OFFICIAL CHILDREN'S WEEK LAUNCH
The official launch of the Week will be held at the Art Gallery of South Australia, North Terrace.   Launch of BankSA Child Art Week Exhibition. Celebrating International Year of Microcredit and Sport & Physical Activity. Performance by children from various schools. Compere: Jane Reilly, Channel 10. Sponsored by Bank SA and Art Gallery of SA.    By invitation only.

BE ACTIVE SPORT & PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR SCHOOLS
Hundreds of children will gather at Rymill Park to participate in World Games and activity as a celebration of Sport & Physical Education. Activities will include physical and also learning aspects. Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 October

" WORKING SCIENTIFICALLY" with CSRIO's Double Helix Science Club
Hands-on science experiments with rocket launchers, gas explosions, dissolving sugars, speeding bubbles cells, solar cells, Newtonian cars and so much more! Most suitable ages: 7yrs to 14yrs with parents encouraged to attend.   Venue: CSIRO Science Education Centre,   Regency Institute of TAFE, Days Road, Regency Park.   Sessions: 90 minutes - 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm. "WALK ON THE WILD SIDE"...with Guides SA
A state camp for girls aged between 7 and 11 years participating in a large range of activities;- nocturnal walks, dawn walk and the wetlands tour.

BANKSA FAMILY DAY
The BankSA Family Day at the Art Gallery is being hedl in conjunction with the BankSA Child Art Week Exhibition. It's free, so bring along your picnic rugs and enjoy a day at the Art Gallery. Art and Craft activities, face painting, live music, clowns and sausage sizzle.

"KIWANIS" PICNIC IN THE PARK at Bonython Park
A fantastic program of activities provided by the Kiwanis Club of Adelaide for 450 disabled and disadvantaged children and their carers.   A whole of family concept for respite and enjoyment in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.

UNAA 60 th ANNIVERSARY DINNER
The United Nations Association dinner to be held at the Prospect Town Hall in conjunction with the Regional Bahai Council of SA. Special guest speaker Professor John Langmore, Federal President UN Association of Australia. Evening includes musical interludes, silent auction and raffle. Time: 6.30pm   Cost: $40 per person

NATIONAL PLAYGROUP DAY

WORLD TEACHERS DAY LAUNCH
Function held at the Richmond Primary School. Central observance of World Teachers Day which recognises the essential and valuable contribution which teachers make to students learning. By invitation only.

PRESENTATION OF THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION & CHILDREN'S SERVICES AWARDS  
Presentation of awards to children who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the Gilles Street Primary School. Minister for Education and Children's Services, Hon Dr Jane Lomax-Smith will present awards.   For further information contact Children's Week Association on 8232 3866.

WORLD TEACHERS DAY in schools
Ceremonies at schools throughout the state to celebrate the contribution of teachers. Students present certificates of recognition to teachers. Supported by AEU, SAASSO, SASPAC and Children's Week.

Saturday 29 October

ETHNIC SCHOOLS CHILDREN'S DAY features a parade from Victoria Square at 10.30am, along King William Street to the Adelaide Festival Theatre Terrace for a concert on the lawned area .   Official launch at 11am followed by concert performances on the lawned area from 11.15am onwards.   700 children, school community members, teachers and parents will participate.
